Hi, Vicigers!

In today’s episode (or article), we will delve deeper into the world of the metaverse and introduce our very own metaverse project, the RansVerse. Recently, Indonesia has seen a tremendous growing interest in the technological and virtual reality industry, from communities of all ages talking about it to companies creating local cryptocurrencies. But aside from all that, we have yet to have our own metaverse that serves our people’s specific needs of having a local platform with a ‘by gamers for gamers’ mindset. This desire for innovation is the foundation upon which RansVerse is created. RansVerse aims to be a platform where users can interact similarly like in the real world and build a ‘home’ there. They can create content, interact within communities, play games, buy digital real estate plots, and earn passive income from their assets. This project is a collaborative effort by ShintaVC, VCGamers, and UpBanx, and through these partnerships, players who use our $VCG token in the RansVerse will benefit from the existing infrastructure and communities.

But first, let’s take a step back. If you’re confused with all the terms mentioned above and wondered, ‘what is a metaverse?’, you’ve come to the right place. We will break it down for you.

What is a metaverse?

You might have already heard the word metaverse circulating around in the past few years. Why do big companies, like Facebook, suddenly change itsname to Meta and claim itself as a metaverse company? So, is metaverse a social networking platform? A new technological revolution? What is that?

To put it simply, a meta-universe or metaverse is a part of the Internet that explores a shared virtual reality and is designed as identical to the real world as possible as the beginning of the second phase of the Internet. People who ‘enter’ the metaverse can gain an experience beyond time and space and do various activities. You can gather with your family in different countries, play games, shop for digital goods and artworks, and even invest in assets. In a broader sense, metaverse doesn’t only refer to the virtual space operated by social media companies, but it’s an entirely new spectrum of augmented reality.

The term metaverse has become popular in recent times. Leading figures like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg have mentioned it. Let’s move to the history behind the terminology. The word ‘metaverse’ was first coined in Neal Stephenson 1992’s science fiction novel Snow Crash. In the story, humans use avatars to interact with each other in a 3D virtual space using real-world metaphors. A concept similar to this appeared under various synonymical names in the cyberpunk fiction genre since 1981 and namely in Vernor Vinge 1981’s novella True Names.

So back to Snow Crash. After finishing the novel, Stephenson said in the epilogue of the saga that he was learning about Habitat, an early MMORPG that resembled the meta-universe. Following that, the concept of cyberspace first appeared in the short story titled ‘Burning Chrome’ by William Gibson in 1982 and became the central theme in his 1984 popular novel Neuromancer.

The connection between the metaverse and crypto assets

Enough about the metaverse. Another question arises, how does our $VCG token take part in all of this? Before that, let’s talk about the relationship between metaverse and crypto assets in general.

Our co-founder and Chairman of VCGamers, Wafa Taftrazani, had a chance to explain this during the Sabtu Me Time program on Trans7, an Indonesian national TV channel. Wafa explained that crypto assets are a form of digital assets that can be owned when users are in the web3 or web 3.3 ecosystems. You can own crypto assets through the blockchain. Quoting Wafa, there are differences between crypto assets and other assets outside the blockchain, “What distinguishes a crypto asset from other assets outside the blockchain is that it has a record of ownership that cannot be falsified, duplicated, and transferred from one owner to another ‘without verification of all users on the blockchain.”

Wafa also further explained whether the metaverse should have its own crypto assets or not. He said that all crypto assets must be connected to the blockchain. As a result, the metaverse can use crypto asset technology and/or Non-Fungible Token (NFT). However, Wafa then said that not all metaverses have crypto assets.

“But, not all metaverses have to have their own crypto tokens, they can work together, they can collaborate, synergize with existing tokens or with existing chains,” said Wafa.

RansVerse and $VCG Token

This brings us back to our question. How does $VCG token play a part in the metaverse? $VCG token is a local digital crypto asset developed on a social commerce platform that connects gamers and allows them to buy and sell digital game items and NFTs. This gives $VCG a real practical utility in the VCGamers ecosystem and the RansVerse, where it will be used as the main transaction token. Some practical usages of the $VCG token in RansVerse include, but not limited to: entering and winning games and for buying land plots for investment and development. Basically, everything in RansVerse will utilize $VCG token. We also plan to expand partnerships with performers, creators, and game developers so this can be an inclusive meaningful platform in both the local and international gaming communities.

So, that’s about it for today’s article. Stay tuned for more information on our $VCG token and other products!
